Introduction

Aluminium master alloys

Aluminium, Titanium & Boron, ATB [Grain Refiner]

 

Metalloy ATB is a grain refiner for Aluminium silicon hypoeutectic and eutectic alloys. It is available in different compositions of Titanium and Boron (5:1, 3:1 & so on). Metalloy ATB control the structure & dispersion of individual crystal in metals to produce finer grain sized casting.

 

Aluminium & Strontium, Asr [Modifier]

Usually supplied for use in Si-Al alloys, modifiers change micro-structured properties of metal to increase strength, toughness, ductility & resultant machinability.

Aluminium & Boron

Al-B master alloys are generally used to improve the conductivity of Aluminium cables.

Introduction

FLUXES FOR TREATMENT OF ALUMINIUM MELT

 

Powder & Granular

    • Cover Flux: It is applied on the surface of molten Aluminium where it meets forming a continuous layer protecting the liquid metal from oxidation & absorption of atmospheric hydrogen.

    • Drossing Flux: It removes oxides & other non-metallic inclusion from Aluminium melt.

    • Modifying Flux: It results in improvement in hot tear resistance, feeding & reduction in shrinkage porosity

    • Cleaning Flux: It removes the oxide content built up on the furnace wall.

    • Melting Flux: It protects against oxidation & hydrogen pick up & improve melting capacity.

     

    Grain Refiner

    It induces formation of TiB2 in the melt & improves mechanical properties of the casting such as elongation and other.

    Magnesium Remover

    It is available in Powder/Tablet form & used for removing unwanted magnesium from molten aluminium.

    Diecotes

    Metadiecotes have an excellent lubricating and cooling properties.

    Die Release Agents

    Release agent usually water miscible, sprayed onto the wall of the die casting mould during pressure die casting which prevents soldering of the metal to the mould & facilitates demoulding of the casting.

    Launder Coatings

    These are special types of coating for Aluminium extrusion process as well as for moulds and cores.

    Plunger Lubricants

    Al-B master alloys generally used to improve the conductivity of Aluminium cables.
